Enjoy your PIE! Author’s Purpose Primary Reading CCS R 1.RL.5 Explain major differences between books that tell stories and books that give information. Complete a focus lesson with students, using the anchor charts, before using this activity in stations. Use the acronym P.I.E to help students learn the different reasons why authors write something (to persuade, to inform, to entertain).
