GEF Proposal Co-Financing GEF projects need to be co-financed by host country Least Developed Countries can count on 1/1.5 co- financing from the GEF More developed countries such as Philippines, Indonesia, Peru, Ecuador are co-financed 1/2.5 Higher income countries would be co-financed at 1/4 Cash financing from countries will get a better co-finance agreement than in-kind projects

GEF Proposal Activities Outline Reassess and implement national strategy action plans and national policies based on pilot site outcomes Evaluate opportunity for fair trade certification Implement mercury reduction/elimination pilot projects Monitor/Assess changes in overall mercury use, emissions and exposure at pilot sites Develop comprehensive health education and technology training programs Develop and implement national strategic action plans to promote sound management of mercury in ASGM Improve understanding of scope of ASGM
