2 Undershirts for Uniforms Rule 3, Section 5, Art. 5, Page 26  Undershirts shall be similar in color to the torso of the jersey and shall be hemmed and not have frayed or ragged edges. If the undershirt has sleeves, they shall be the same length. We do not have consistent enforcement Some officials enforce it to the letter of the rule Other officials do not enforce it at all

3 Undershirts for Uniforms White Jersey  A white undershirt is the only one allowed Green, Black, Maroon, Red, Orange, and Purple Jerseys  A similar in color matching undershirt  A black undershirt that does not have sleeves Blue, Gold and Yellow Jerseys  A similar in color matching undershirt  A blue undershirt that does not have sleeves

4 Undershirts for Uniforms How to enforce it?  Observation during warm ups  Pre games captains meeting How to ask the coach for help  “Coach, can I get your help with the undershirts on your players?” Do not wait until the game is about to begin! If found during the game, don’t allow the player until it is fixed Review Headbands and Sweatbands on Page 26 of the rule book

5 Warnings for Delay of Game Rule 4, Section 47, Art. 1-4, Pages 41 & 42  Throw in plane violation  Huddle by either team with the free thrower  Interfere with the ball following a goal  Failure to have the court ready for play 1 st offense  Team warning (one for each team)  Tell scorer to record in the book and tell the head coach

6 Warnings for Delay of Game 2 nd Offense  Rule 10, Section 1, Art. 5, c, d & e, Page 60  Rule 9, Section 2, Art. 11, Penalties, Page 56  Team technical foul (not a player) Reach through boundary line  Contact or dislodge the ball Technical foul charged to player, no warning needed  Fouls the thrower Intentional foul charged to player, no warning needed

7 Resuming Play After a Timeout/Intermission Rule 7, Section 5, Art. 1, Page 50 Casebook Page 54 & 55  Resumption of Play Procedure  Warning horn and final horn sounded  Official blows a whistle to indicate play will resume  Give the ball to the team or place on the floor  If violation give to the other team and repeat  Following a violation by both teams, if either team is not ready for play then a team technical foul  Use each time after resuming play

8 Possession Arrow Mistake After a jump ball, you give the ball to Team A for a throw in. After going down the court for about 7 seconds the table sounds the horn informing you the arrow was pointing the wrong direction, it should have been Team B’s ball. How do you correct the situation? Answer: After the ball is inbounded you cannot correct the mistake. The arrow will be pointed towards Team B’s basket.

9 Possession Arrow Mistake Rule 6, Section 4, Pages 47 & 48 Casebook, 6.4.1, Page 48 When is the arrow reversed?  When the Alt. Possession throw in ends. When does the Alt. possession throw in end?  Throw in ends (passed ball touches another player in bounds or out of bounds)  Throw in team violates A foul by either team does not cause the arrow to be reversed!

10 Working with Fans/Spectators Rule 2, Section 8, Art. 1, Note, Page 19 Casebook, 2.8.1, Page 9 Never confront, address or correct a fan!!! You will never win the situation or argument! Responsibility for the behavior of spectators is home/game management If none is present, it is the home coach

11 Working with Fans/Spectators When supporters become unruly or interfere with the orderly progress of the game  Stop the game, find the onsite administrator and have them resolve the issue. Throw debris on the floor  Inform the administrator  Have an announcement made Do not make a big deal about it Be discrete No situation means automatic technical foul!

12 And Lastly… CALL YOUR PARTNERS! If no response the day before the game, call Al Perez, Sr., at 494-4040. There is no excuse not to contact your partners!
