How can people from ‘outside’ your church work usefully with you? They bring experience of training and facilitation from the wider church and best practice in organisational learning They can enable differing perspectives to be understood within a church community as they ask ‘unasked’ questions They can help new insights be articulated as they listen with ‘new’ ears They bring a care and respect from the wider church that can be encouraging and affirming back

GOVERNING VALUES i.e. what you will see in us when we work with you Listening, so that people are valued and conversations become holy Collaboration, so that learning takes place together and partnerships are developed Local actions, so that work is contextual and responsibility for mission and ministry is owned back

Wider Diocesan Support We meet and discuss our work regularly with other members of the Diocesan Resource Team We bring a broad awareness of consultants, trainers and other agencies with expertise If we don’t know, we usually know ‘someone who can’ or ‘someone who does’ back

From Tim Foreman: Vicar of Buckland, Dover Peter Ingrams and the team facilitated three Parish ‘away-day’ events. The task was to engage with the life and direction of our Church community and its relationship to mission and to encourage the PCC/Church: to ensure it is spiritually nourished for the days ahead, to build a sense of community ‘giving voice’ together, and to better understand who we are as a ‘gifted’ PCC/Church as we face the future. Most people who came had little experience of this concept of group development, and we were all very excited to see common themes emerge. It was confidence building on a personal and corporate levels. The journey through the three sessions and beyond has been innovative, encouraging and faith building. I recommend it. back

From Alan Amos: Priest in Charge of The Six back As we move towards becoming a United Benefice, Kerry Thorpe has helped us look at how we need to re-shape our use of resources for a time when we will have fewer ordained ministers. Each of our congregations has been encouraged to find its own pathway within our common calling, its own gifting and vocation to be shared with the others in the Six. We are grateful for the help we have received, and warmly commend Kerry to others who may need some guidance or an enabling presence as they look ahead in ministry.

From Stephen Plumb: Missioner at Iwade As a mission accompanier Kerry Thorpe has been involved in the Iwade project from its conception. He is aware of the requirements of the Church Commissioners, the hopes and aspirations of the Diocese, and the everyday realities that missioner Stephen Plumb encounters. As a consultant/coach within the project support group Kerry brings a wealth of experience of engaging in mission, he is a focussed strategic thinker, and this has helped Stephen to think about his own context, and work out appropriate and relevant ways of furthering the mission of the church. back

From Colin Preece: Vicar of St Mary’s, Ashford Our PCC spent a morning with Peter Ingrams honing our vision and mission statements. This was a follow up to a previous day spent with our PCC on Mission planning - before we vacated the church for re- ordering. The second session came out of returning to our beautifully re-ordered church and a deep desire to work out together how the building as a Sacred and Shared space might also serve our mission. This was and still is extremely helpful as we continue in our mission planning through the Mission Group a sub committee of our PCC. back

From David Ridley: Vicar of St Mary’s Dover The parishes of St Mary and St Martin in Dover have been exploring ways, as neighbours, to work together and share ideas and resources. Following joint Lent Groups on the theme of 'welcome' in 2012 it was agreed that the PCCs, and others who are interested, should spend some time together exploring further what it means to be a welcoming community - especially across two quite different church communities. As a result, a morning away together, in John and Lizzie Hopthrow's 'yurt' in Kingston, was arranged and facilitated by Steve and Vicky Coneys from the Mission and Ministry Development Team. Steve and Vicky's carefully thought through programme and sensitive leadership helped us to explore in some depth what 'welcome', in its fullest sense,means; but more significantly, it enabled us to understand one another better and to build trust and confidence. We came away feeling that an important platform had been built upon which future sharing can and will take place. back
