Don’t use or display your phone/tablet when walking home. Be aware of who is around you and stick to well lit streets. If possible, travel home with others. Use Student Safe Zones. Register your property on Immobilse. Password protect your phone and Install/activate ‘Find my Phone’ style software (password protect that to prevent the offender switching it off). Criminals target people using their phone whilst walking home, waiting at bus stops, or by pick pocketing at gigs. Young males riding bikes snatch phones out of victims hands

Report defective locks to your landlord/Administration. Do you know who you are inviting back to your accommodation? Don’t prop open security doors or allow ‘tailgating’. Criminals actively target students living in rented accommodation, as well as in Halls of Residence. They’re attracted by high value items in student houses and flats

Always lock your bike and keep it in a well lit, public area Criminals target bikes left in University/Council bike parks, outside accommodation blocks and shops

Be considerate when returning home from a night out Avoid littering, shouting or making excessive noise Be an ambassador for the University within the community
