Introduction to LibGuides LibGuides-a simple-to-use, cloud-based, web-content management system. Librarians use it to curate knowledge and share information by creating online Guides on any topic, subject, course, or on any process. Locating LibGuides from the library’s website. There are two ways to access libguides from the library’s website. 1. Under the Quick Links tab locate HULS LibGuides.

Using LibGuides to promote teaching and learning. (Course Guides) LibGuides is a flexible system that can be used in partnership with a Subject Specialist guide. (For example a course guide may be used to support modules for database usage, articles that students are required to read or promote independent research. ) LibGuides can be used as a primary resource tool to introduce new concepts to students or as a platform for extension tools: further readings on a topic, additional assignments, or to set up an assessment or survey.

Examples of Course Guides Below is an example of a course guide created to support a professor that was teaching a “Pedagogy and Content Literacy Course” in the School of Education. This course guide provide links to online databases, articles, e-books and syllabus guidelines.

Examples of Course Guides Videos were embedded into this course guide to provide examples for students on effective vs. ineffective teacher instruction. The professor also included links to professional development courses for students.

Using LibGuides to promote Information Literacy Instruction In today’s world, information skills – critical thinking and problem solving are essential to success in the workplace and in many aspects of life.
