Wireless to the Web IP Packets

Components 1. WatchDog Weather Station New firmware enables the station to periodically send out current conditions Interval and format configurable using SpecWare 9 Pro

Components 2. Wireless Modems GPRS CDMA Satellite Spread-Spectrum Wireless / Direct to LAN

Components 2a. Inside the Wireless Modems 5 Watt Solar Panel 5.5 AmpHour Battery Telemetry Card Modem

Components 2b. The Modems Up Close GPRS – two models –MultiTech MTCBA-G-F4 –USA 850/1900MHz –International 900/1800MHz CDMA –MultiTech MTCBA-C Satellite –Iridium

Components 2c. Telemetry Board Custom Processor –Energy Saving: puts itself to sleep, turns off the modem –Wakes up when the Weather Station sends out current conditions –Powers up the modem, sends the data, and shuts everything down

Components 3. Antenna Attached to Door To Externally Mount: –Carefully pry from door –Disconnect from modem –Slide modem end up through the gland –Do not mount to a metal surface

Components 4. Solar Panel 5 W (12 V nominal) Solar Panel –216x306x18mm (9x12x0.5)

Components 5. Rechargeable Battery 5 Amp-Hr 12 V Sealed Lead- Acid Battery –MK Battery ES5-12 –1.83 kg (4.04 Lbs) –Not restricted for passenger or cargo aircraft –Meets air transportation requirements under title 49 CFR173.159 and special provision A67 as decreed by IATA and ICAO

Modem Configuration SpecWare 9 Pro / WatchDog Manager

Modem Configuration What needs to be set? Your carrier may require you to enter a User Name and Password (uncommon) Except for AT&T in the USA, Access Point Name must be set. –Provided by your carrier If you are using your own Web site, IP/URL and the Port must be set. –Your server must have a port listener processing any data received on that port. –Your port listener must reformat the data as necessary, and load a database used by your Web site

Station Configuration SpecWare 9 Pro WatchDog Properties

Station Configuration Transmit Interval –May differ from Log Interval –Set both Time and Format –Cannot be Queried

Station Configuration Logging vs Transmission Intervals –Logging Interval sets the interval for data to be stored on the station. Not sent to the Web Backup, the Real Thing, or Ignored –Transmission Interval sets the interval for Current Conditions to be sent to the Web Viewable on Web, downloadable to SpecWare 9 Pro One record sent per interval If Transmission Interval = 30 minutes and Log Interval = 15 minutes, only 2 records will be recorded each hour on the Web

Station Configuration Data charges will be determined by Transmission Interval and Format –15 minute intervals = 96 records per day –60 minute intervals = 24 records per day Transmission Format Sizes –1 Text = 108 bytes –G Binary M or H Binary E = 40 bytes –I Short Bin M or J Short Bin M = 28 bytes Ports A-E not transmitted Recommended for Iridium Satellite only
