3 History of Veteran’s Day
Originally known as Armistice Day (end of World War I) Armistice: temporary suspension of hostilities by agreement between opponents/truce Officially started in 1918 to honor the Veteran’s of World War I Fighting between Allied Nations and Germany ceased on the11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month…November 11, (armistice…actual treaty was signed on June 28, 1919) Now, November 11 of each year honors veterans of all wars

“The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress.” Valor: Personal Bravery Created in 1861 during Civil War
