2 Project summary REScoop 20-20-20 renewable energy cooperatives federations of REScoops and coops local energy agencies academical partners sustainability agencies join forces for more RES-projects, more REScoops, more citizens involved in Europe, reaching its 20-20-20 targets

3 Background: citizens in action

4 At the same time: citizens create hundreds of REScoops, investing in renewable energy, all over Europe, where as, others form action groups against large windfarms of big companies the ‘REScoop 20-20-20 project’ helps to improve social acceptance of RES-e generation with its proven model of local cooperative citizen involvement, and will foster the creation of new REScoops all over Europe

5 Objectives and main steps Overall goal: Speed up creation of RES projects and related cooperatives in various member States. Main steps: - Inventory of existing REScoops and their RES projects: to identify their added value in fostering RES in Europe - Developing and testing methodologies based on best practices (business structures/ financing) in at least 12 new REScoop pilot projects - Dissemination of cooperative RES approaches for leveraging the REScoop approach

6 Expected results - Methodologies based on best practices to create new citizens RES-projects: different business models, checklists, template contracts, financing and investment schemes. - Support emerging cooperative RES-projects with a toolbox that integrates the learning of the more than 400 existing RES cooperatives and the involvement of at least 25 volunteer mentors, trained in best practice. - Deliver recommendations to EU and national Governments on fiscal, legal and authorisation policies to increase the success rate of RES-e projects.

7 Main impacts Main impacts within the duration of the project are: - Creation of 12 new REScoops and projects, applying best practice and leveraging the network corresponding to at least 24 MW (average of 2MW per project) established thanks to the action support. - Direct involvement of at least 6000 shareholders that leads to at least a 5% reduction in their electricity consumption - Secure financial support to new RES initiatives collecting commitments for 100 mil € all over Europe.
