3 Mummification:  Purpose of mummification?  The internal organs (stomach, liver, intestines, lungs) were removed.  The body was stuffed and covered with natron (i.e. sodium carbonate).  It was cleaned, stuffed again and oiled.  It was wrapped with linen and clothes and placed in two coffins.
