About The Course This course is designed for geo-scientists who wish to expand their understanding of significant techniques and developments in 4D microgravity. This enhanced understanding is vital for field development process. Participants will learn about : Basic concept of gravity (2D/3D) and 4D microgravity anomalies in relation with the existence of geological structure and fluid flow in reservoir. 4D Microgravity data acquisition and processing with emphasis on the impact of interpretation and pitfall. Geological structure response in 4D microgravity anomaly. Interpretation techniques of 4D Microgravity data relating with reservoir behavior : change of density contrast, apparent saturation, geological structure (fault) and fluid – front ( movement). Overview on the use of 4D microgravity survey for water injection and production activities in single (carbonate) and multi (sandstone) layers reservoir. The course comprises of approximately 60% theory and 40% workshop, in-which 90% of the problem-set packages are Indonesia cases. In relation with exploration science and technology development, in which resolution of geophysical data measurement become increase, there is a paradigm shift in geophysical method from 2D or 3D survey to 4D survey in order to monitor reservoir hydrocarbon. In gravity method, the existence of very significant improvement in gravimeter technology in which repeatability reaches around 0.005 µGal, and processing as well, the 4D microgravity has became a promising method to identify the fluid movement in the reservoir along production and injection activities. And finally, this will support better understanding the nature of reservoir.
