Focus your child’s attention e.g. ‘Zara....listen...’

Reduce background noise and distractions where possible

Remember to use an appropriate level of language Mother – Before coming down stairs, make sure you make your bed and tidy your room!

Encourage your child to tell you when she/he doesn’t understand Emphasise key words by using slight stress and use appropriate non-verbal cues
