20. Fluency Good readers speak clearly and change their voices as they read to help listeners understand the text. This is called intonation. Remember that end marks are important clue for intonation. For example, at the end of a question, a reader’s voice usually goes up, but at the end of a statement, a reader’s voice goes down. 21. Grammar: Subject and Object Pronouns In a sentence, an object is a noun that is not the subject of the sentence. The dog chewed the bone. Dog –subject bone – object The dog chewed it.
