Security Systems BU Communication Systems ST/SEU-CO 1 DCN SA SD Mix-M Mode 16.11.2004 Mix-Minus Mode  Prevent echo due to this feedback.  Audio-signals, connected to the line input of the CCU are no longer routed to the line output as in the standard mode.  Better audio performance by using this mode for telephone coupler or by interconnect of 2 DCN systems.

Security Systems BU Communication Systems ST/SEU-CO 2 DCN SA SD Mix-M Mode 16.11.2004 Standard Audio Routing The Digital Congress Network distributes the audio (floor, interpretation, intercom) from the Central Control Unit to the delegate units through 16 digital channels. The channels are assigned as follows: Channel Download assignment in the DCN system

Security Systems BU Communication Systems ST/SEU-CO 4 DCN SA SD Mix-M Mode 16.11.2004 CCU - Standard mode Channel 0: This is the Floor-sound as sent to the interpreters unit. For protecting and convenience reasons, this Floor-level is distributed with a dynamic range of 1 dB. Channel 1 - 11: In our Stand-alone-System it is possible to assign channels 1 to 11 for Interpretation. In our System Installation Software Module (LBB 3585) it is possible to assign channels 1 to 15 either as Interpretation, Floor, Intercom or as a mix between this, as shown above. The channels (1 to 11 and 15) can therefore represent either an interpretation channel, a floor, or 2 duplex Intercom channels. Channel 12: The CCU has a built-in equalizer. Channel 12 is the Floor coming out of the equalizer and only available one the Audio Media Interface. If the equalizer is activated (indicated by the green LED ‘on’ on front of the CCU). This equalized Channel is also routed to the delegate’s loudspeakers Channel 13. Channel 13: Floor as distributed to the delegate’s loudspeakers with a dynamic range of 12 dB. Channel 14: Line output as available on the back-side of the CCU with a dynamic range of 30 dB.

Security Systems BU Communication Systems ST/SEU-CO 5 DCN SA SD Mix-M Mode 16.11.2004 CCU - Standard mode Channel 14: Line output as available on the back-side of the CCU with a dynamic range of 30 dB. Channel 15: 1 duplex intercom-channel and one busy-tone channel. The individual channels can be made externally available via the Audio Media Interface (LBB 3508). The AMI has 4 analog outputs. Each output can be positioned via a 15-position rotary selector to channel 0 to 14. Interpretation channels are distributed with a dynamic range of 1 dB to make recording easy.

Security Systems BU Communication Systems ST/SEU-CO 8 DCN SA SD Mix-M Mode 16.11.2004 DCN system in Mix-Minus Mode Mix-Minus Mode The main feature of this mode is that audio signals, connected to the line input of the CCU are no longer routed to the line output of the CCU as in the standard mode. This is desired in applications e.g. - where a remote audio connection is made with a telephone coupler, to connect a remote delegate - or to interconnect 2 DCN Systems. Echo due to this feedback in the standard mode is thus avoided and the audio performance of the connection considerably improves. See next slides for some examples of the audio routing in the CCU’s and the external equipment. Notes: In Mix-Minus mode recording of the line input signal via the recorder output of the CCU is not longer possible. Only the microphone-signals coming from the connected microphone units of this CCU. In Mix-Minus mode a permanent audio channel is used for the line input. Therefore the number of available interpretation channels is one channel less than in the standard mode, thus 10 channels instead of 11 in stand-alone and multi CCU systems.
