2 Let’s watch this movie

3 Introduction High speed of data transmission and cheap cost are the most important demands for internet users. To achieve these demands, many approaches have been developed. Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology was introduced as the solution for home users or dial-up users.

4 How can I access theinternet? 2-ISDN 1-Dial-up 3-T1 Technology 4-Cable 5-DSL

5 Contents DSL overview DSL benefits and types ADSL and how does it work? How fast is it? ADSL components. Comparisons. Summary.

6 DSL mean …? doesWhat Digital Subscriber Line technology is a public net work technology that delivers high bandwidth over conventional copper wiring at limited distance (such as telephone lines) and provides high speed internet access.

7 ADSL Modem. Local Loop. Service provider. Internet. PC ADSL modem Service provider Internet DSL Components

8 DSLbenefits Use the phone at the same time you are on line Super fast speeds Low cost Data security No dial-up required Upgrade speed as your needs change No dropped connections

9 DSL Types Asymmetric DSL(ADSL) Synchronous DSL (SDSL) Receiving data faster than sending data. Download speed from 256KB/Sec up to 1.5MB/Sec. Upload speed from 128KB to 384 KB. Low cost. The same up and download speed. The same service of (T1) and more expensive Not as widely deployed as ADSL Good option for heavy on line business.

10 How does ADSL work ? ADSL works by splitting the phone line into two frequency ranges. The frequencies below 4KHz are reserved for voice and the range above that is used for data.so using the phone at the same time is possible.

11 Comparisons: ADSL Cable modem High speed internet access Over single dedicated telephone line High speed internet access over a shared television cable Faster upstream ability Slower upstream ability Piggyback signals On top of voice signal Send signals through TV cable. Fast downstream

12 Why should ADSL be your first Choice ? Always On,24hrs a day Use the phone at the same time you are on line Does not need any computer equipment Can be shared among two or more PCs No second phone line Flat rate billing

13 Range of download speed from 256KB/sec up to 1.5 MB/sec. Faster than modem 25 times. ADSL modem piggyback signals on top of voice signal. How fast is it?

16 Summary: ADSL is the most popular and widely spread. ADSL is the best way to solve the slow of the internet DSL use the same copper wire of the phone line
