How to Import an Outline From Microsoft Word into a PowerPoint Presentation presented by James Bailey 11 Dec., 2001 ENGL 393
2
Introduction The following instructions are for importing an outline from Microsoft Word into Microsoft PowerPoint to create a slide presentation, and modifying the presentation as desired. This process is useful for students who may have to do a presentation on a research paper that includes an outline. It is most useful for those who want to create a basic slide presentation to go along with an oral presentation, and those who have some basic knowledge on the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. This process requires the use of a computer that is equipped with Windows 95/98 or better, is equipped with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, and has a 3.5” floppy drive. The student will also need a 3.5” floppy disk for data storage, and the necessary information for the outline.
3
Procedure 1.) Create the necessary outline with Microsoft Word, using the Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles. * PowerPoint converts all Heading 1 styles to slide titles and all Heading 2 styles to bulleted items.
4
2.) Save the file on a 3.5” floppy disk under a desired name. Now you are ready to start PowerPoint. 3.) Click Start, then go to Programs, then go to Microsoft PowerPoint.
