2 What is RefWorks? A personal bibliographic software manager –Manages citations –Creates bibliogaphies Accessible from anywhere!

3 Why use RefWorks? Keep track of articles on your topic – or several topics Create bibliographies easily and quickly in over 200 citation styles Submitting your article to more than one journal expecting different citation styles? –A click of the mouse will change the style to fit the requirements of the journal

4 How do I access RefWorks? Click on the RefWorks link on the Library’s homepage http://refworks.scholarsportal.info/ (log in using the Group Code given to you in the RefWorks welcome message)

20 Import using Import Filters Most other major database vendors have Import Filters –It is important to know who the vendor is…if you cannot find the information on the database’s site, contact your Liaison Librarian or the Information Desk Generally, save to a text file, and then import that file into RefWorks using the appropriate filter

Using CSA or Web of Science, put some references into your folder –Go to the “Find Journal Articles, etc.” page from the Library’s home page (http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/) http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/ –For a list of CSA databases, click on the down arrow under Popular Choices –For Web of Science, click on W under Databases by Name
