All Rights Reserved 3 Need for Secondary Database The Master files sent by HO contain the details of all items and are huge Drawbacks of importing these directly into the Shoper 9 POS database o Will increase the size of the database o Retrieval of master records will be slow o Will impact the performance of Shoper 9 in general By maintaining a secondary database, you can o Store information of all masters at all locations o Selectively import masters required by chain store into primary database

All Rights Reserved 5 Link a Secondary Database to a Company Attach an existing secondary database o A secondary database can be attached to multiple primary databases (multiple companies) o To link or attach an existing secondary database to an existing company, go to Setup > Create Secondary database > Attach Secondary database If a secondary database does not exist, create it o The creation of a secondary database is done after a new company is created

All Rights Reserved 6 Importing Masters from HO Select the masters to be exported to secondary database in a particular showroom Extract and export the masters created in Shoper 9 HO to Shoper 9 POS Into Secondary Database at POS Import the masters exported from Shoper HO (example, Shfms02XXX) through Housekeeping > Data Import > Import into Secondary Db. (s) Into Primary Database at POS After creating the secondary database, Import the masters from Shoper 9 HO into the secondary database To selectively import the required master records from the secondary database to the primary database, go to Housekeeping > Data Import > Import Items from Secondary to Primary Db Filter and Search the required item details through the browse window Primary DataBase Updation and import the same into the primary database

All Rights Reserved 7 Scenarios – Usage of Secondary Database Return/ exchange of items can be done anywhere in the chain even if the store does not find the particular master in its primary database, the same can be imported from the secondary database. To accept the goods through Transfer In at the receiving store, if the masters of the transferred goods are not available in the primary database, import a particular master from secondary database to primary. During Stock Audit, the missing item masters can be imported from the secondary database to the primary database
