Green Screen with Freeware Green Screen using Cinegobs and Windows Movie Maker By Jose Rios

The purpose of this seminar is to support high-level 21st Century Instruction by providing an overview of navigating and utilization of the free program “CineGobs Keyer” and understanding how to combine it with Windows Movie Maker to produce a functional video incorporating Chroma Key Technology to enhance Project Based Learning.

Collections In Windows Movie Maker all images, videos and sound used to construct a video. All these artifacts must be placed in the area called “Collections” in order to be added to the video being constructed.

Timeline Area in a video editing software program images, video, sound, transitions and effects are added to construct a video

You will need: Modern PC with.Net Version 2.0 or better (faster the better) Video Digital Media of Subject in front of well lit Green Screen Background image or footage Basic understanding of computers Cinegobs Keyer (free download

You will also need: AVISYNTH (free download) Windows Movie Maker

Download and install both programs

Start the Cinegobs Program

Import Video with Green Screen Background

Import Video with AVISYNTH Go to File and select Import Using AVISYNTH Navigate to your green screen video and import. After you’ve selected the video you will see the video’s first frame appear in the screen below.

Select the backdrop image Click the Preview Tab and than Load Image/Video Click the Background Drop Down and Select Image/Video from File

Click the Color Difference Matte Tab

Adjust the Black Threshold Slider Drag the slider to the right the image goes negative but then will fill with a yellow background around the subject. The yellow disappears once you let go of the slider.

Click the Alpha and Col-Diff buttons.

Tweak the matte expansion slider and the blur under the edges section.

Click the Output Tab We will need to trim the video in this section. Windows Movie Maker works best with file sizes smaller than 2 GB.

Start Windows Movie Maker

Import Videos into the WMM Timeline Import the videos from Cinegobs into the WMM collections then the video timeline of Windows Movie Maker Import the original video into the audio portion of the timeline. Click File and Click Save Video File Choose the top choice save to the hard drive your video will render as a Windows Media Video
