Child may be exempt for medical reasons when medical provider deems necessary for exemption Child may be exempt for religious reasons from immunizations when parent object by a written sworn statement to the immunization of the child on religious grounds

Must be current (no expired certificates) Presented to school within 2 weeks of enrollment (702 KAR 1:160) Neither statute or regulation assign “penalty” if certificate not presented Local board of education policy determines “penalty” Homeless children protected by McKinney-Vento act and cannot be excluded from attending school
