WHY FRESHMAN ACADEMY ? 2018 Increase student achievement by providing equitable access for opportunities to achieve high learner outcomes. Improve student attendance by working with families. Establish consistent parent/home/school communications to establish positive working relationships. Encourage student participation in civic, sports, and social high school events to provide opportunities to thrive and succeed beyond the classroom. Create opportunities for teachers to engage in collegial discussions about teaching and learning to support student achievement.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Earn 22 units of academic credit Earn 5.0 Credits PASS Grade Nine Pass MCAS: English Mathematics Science (Biology, Introductory Physical Science, Chemistry) 2018

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS No more than 4 absences per quarter 8 days for a semester 16 days for full year courses Attendance Review Board for appeals process 2018

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS All Students Must Pass:Students Recommended for College Must Pass: English: 4 ½ creditsEnglish: 4 credits History: 4 credits Mathematics: 3 creditsMathematics: 4 credits, including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry Science: 3 creditsScience: 4 credits Wellness: 1 credit ** World Language: 1 creditWorld Language: 3-4 credits of the same language Unified Arts : 1 credit **Band, show choir, or color guard having a FULL 7 period schedule may be exempt from no more than ½ credit. 2018
