10. Grades PreK-2 Primary Talent Development (PTD) A science-based expert thinking curriculum based on gifted education. Exposes students to kinesthetic, STEM experiences that introduce the following behaviors over time: – Perceptive – Inquisitive – Communicative – Creative – Resourceful – Leadership – Persistence

11. Grades PreK-5 Elementary School-Based GATE Students engage in interdisciplinary lessons that are centered on a number of concepts/themes. Identified through the following: – Aptitude: Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (grades 1, 5) – Performance: 90 th + percentile on MAP testing – Performance: high-advanced level on MSA – Performance and Potential: task – Potential: parent and teacher checklist/referral – Potential: produces work at the “independent” level on Primary Talent Development tasks

12. Grades 6-8 School-Based Middle GATE (“A&E/MERIT”) Curriculum is accelerated and/or enriched, depending upon the subject area. Programs located in WCPS middle schools. Identified through the following: – Aptitude: Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (grades 1, 5) – Performance: 85 th + percentile on MAP testing – Performance: advanced level on MSA – Potential: parent and teacher nomination/checklist/referral

13. Grades 2-5 and 6-8 Elementary and Middle Magnet Programs Programs are designed for the most highly-gifted students in the county. All diploma-bound students are screened for aptitude during grades one and five. Eligible students are invited to apply for magnet programs, receiving a link to the application and an invitation to attend the school-based open house events. Students may apply to more than one program; however, they must complete an interview and task at each school to which they apply.
