1 WORLD SCHOOL OBJECTIVES Masaki Matsudaira created World School in 1997 with the following vision:  A World Without Borders  A Forum for Youth from the World  A widening of Horizons  Youth embracing different global perspectives  Lasting friendships

2 MAIN ACTIVITIES 1.Bonding Activities 2.Debates or Team Presentations Preparation 3.Debates or Team Presentations 4.Visits related to the theme 5.Cultural visits 6.Home stay 7.Country Presentations: related to the theme and cultural performances 8.Games

3 PREPARATION TASKS May and June tasks: Meeting to plan the preparation tasks and make decisions on the PowerPoint Presentation, the Canadian Booth and the Traditional Performance. Summer tasks: Debate or Presentation Research. Scrapbook about our way of life in Canada. Message to the MPs (Canadian Pins). September and October tasks: PowerPoint Presentation: Country Presentation related to the theme. Canadian Booth: Related to the theme. Traditional Performance: singing and/or dancing. Presentation at the assembly: WS delegation presents the Forum theme. Meeting with the Previous Canadian Delegations.

4 WS REQUIREMENTS Personal requirements  Total Grade Average: +80%  Strong Organizational Skills  Strong Communication Skills  Team Work Ability  Independent Work Ability  Time management  Respect of deadlines and commitments  Ability to cope with change and differences

5 WS REQUIREMENTS Commitments 1. Before World School: Preparation Tasks 2. During World School: Best Behavior as Canadian and Trafalgar Representatives 3. After World School: Reflection text and video Video for the Assembly Update World School Board + Pictures Open House Meeting with previous delegations (supper)

6 STUDENT EXPENSES ① Student Plane Ticket + 1/3 of the teacher’s ticket ② Insurances (Health and Trip Cancellation + Modification ③ Gifts for Homestay Family ④ Canada Booth Small items ⑤ Pocket Money (All expenses during the World School Forum are covered by the World School Foundation.)

7 CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCEDURE 1.Candidate Letter of Presentation -Word Printed Document, Anonymous, name on a separate sheet of paper at the back of your letter. -Min. 200 words, max. 300 words, double spaced. -Answer these three questions: What is World School? Why would you like to go to WS? Why would you be a good candidate for WS? 2.Personal Research and Presentation: text or PPT TOPIC : to be determined. 3.Individual Interview 4.Group Interview
