The Way Forward
3
We’ve come a long way! BUT ….
Improved Teaching & Learning Improved results Better financial situation Getting to Good As recognised by HMI and LA BUT ….
4
.… it’s time for transformational change
7
What is an Academy? Like a state run Independent School
Funded directly from Central Government Free from Local Authority Control More freedoms than a LA controlled school
8
What is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT)?
Group of Academies Led by a Sponsor Academies maintain their own autonomy Share where advantageous
9
A different kind of MAT Led by sponsor school Four founding members
Four equal partners
10
Crestwood Edgecliff Ellowes Hall Ounsdale
11
Why join a MAT? There will be great capacity to improve when combining the expertise and qualities found in each school. We will be able to increase our financial capacity by employing shared buying power, economies of scale and pooling some of the extra funding available.
12
AN EXCITING PROSPECT FOR STUDENTS
14
The most obvious benefit is that all students will quickly be part of a good or outstanding school.
Additionally: More money spent on them Better facilities Improved learning environment Improved tracking and monitoring Further improved teaching and learning More opportunity to take part and succeed Between the schools in the Trust there is the potentially fascinating mix of collaboration and competition.
15
Collaborative Competitive Ethos Sharing of clubs and societies
Joint Arts and Sports events The students have the chance to combine and do something significant in terms of charity or service etc. Competitive We could have much larger inter school competitions. These would have, especially for the Arts, a much larger audience. We could also take such competitions into the public domain with confidence. Ethos Students want to be part of a successful and well regarded school. With the highest academic standards and excellent behaviour, students are free to excel without fear or hindrance because studying hard is the norm.
16
BETTER FOR ACHIEVEMENT
17
Better and crucially, better quicker HOW? The Sharing of Expertise
