5. WHY USE THE ALGEBRA PLACEMENT PROGRAM AT SCS?  Algebra is available to all students  All students have the opportunity to take higher level math courses in High School  8 th Grade Enrichment  Students able to progress at their pace  Our model was adopted by CSSU

6. WHAT DOES ALGEBRA LOOK LIKE AT SCS?  Algebra is taught every day  Algebra takes place in the classroom and additional monthly seminars  APP students participate in follow-up sessions  Algebra is taught by all 8 th grade math teachers and is collaborative – monthly planning

TRUE OR FALSE QUIZ  Algebra is taught in isolation 9 seminars per year.  Students are expected to teach themselves algebra and there is no direct instruction or time for follow up with teachers.  Everyone must take algebra seminar for placement credit once they have signed up.  Algebra seminars are the only time algebra is taught at SCS.
