Google Earth in the Classroom Google Earth can be used for a variety of subjects and activities Any time a lesson is taught involving any location, giving students a reference point is always helpful

Basic Tools- Layers Borders and Labels Displays national, provincial and local borders Also displays city names and locations

Basic Tools- Layers Photos Displays photos people have uploaded Allows you to see different views of landmarks

Basic Tools- Layers 3D Buildings Allows you to see 3D models of buildings in major cities Great visual representation of the scale of landmarks

Basic Tools- Layers Weather Lets you see the weather around the world Good for comparisons and observing weather systems

Basic Tools- Ruler Calculate the distance between locations with Line You can also design a route to take between two locations with Path

Basic Tools- History When you zoom in close to an area the history button will appear at the bottom (it has a year on it) After clicking on it, the history sliding bar will open Adjust it to see older images of the area

Subject Uses- Social Studies Grade 3- Communities in Canada, 1780–1850 Grade 4- Early Societies, 3000 BCE-1500 CE (Medieval Times)
