Thick layer of dense, hot rock.
The rock consists of silicon, oxygen, aluminum, iron, and magnesium.

11. Crust
Thin layer, extending perhaps 3 to 30 miles below the surface.
Consists of huge plate like sections of rock that float on a partially melted layer in the upper mantle.
Includes the continents and ocean basins.
