3 MASTER OF ARTS (M.A.) IN HIGHER EDUCATION Adult and Developmental Education (Catawba) Graduates are prepared to excel as:  basic skills/developmental education instructors  faculty in continuing ed/career tech programs  ESOL instructors  learning specialists  tutorial coordinators  professional developers/trainers  program directors or coordinators  leaders in adult and developmental education

4 M.A. COURSE REQUIREMENTS (Catawba, Fall 2014) Adult and Developmental Education CORE HE 5635: Adult Development and Learning Theories HE 5440: College & University Teaching HE 6861: American Higher Education RES 5000: Research Methods CONCENTRATION HE 5090: Adult and Developmental Education HE 5640: College Access & Student Success HE 5650: Curriculum in Higher Education HE 5720: Program Development HE 5730: Assessment and Evaluation HE 5740: Learning Assistance in Higher Education Elective 1 (e.g., Internship) Elective 2 (e.g., The Community College, Globalization in HE)

5 CATAWBA MA Cohort (Fall 2014) Adult and Developmental Education Fall 2014 – Summer 2016 (2 courses/per term, including summers) Each course is at least 30% online Course 1: Meets on Tuesday evenings (6-9pm in F/Sp; 5-9 in Sum) Course 2: Meets up to 5 Saturdays each term  Online courses will have no more than one F2F session. Application Deadline: JULY 1, 2014

LEADERSHIP (Catawba, Fall 2014) Fall 2014 – Spring 2016 (2 courses/per term, including summers) Each course is at least 30% online Tentative Schedule Course 1: Meets on Wednesdays (6-9pm / 5-9pm in Summer) Course 2: Meets up to 5 Saturday sessions each term  Online courses will have no more than one F2F session. Application Deadline: JULY 1, 2014

13 COSTS Distance Education Tuition & Fees (2013-2014) In-state $235 per semester hour $705 per three-hour class Tuition and fees are set annually, and annual increases can be expected. Each course will vary in requirements for textbooks, etc.

14 PAYMENT PLAN OPTION The TuitionPay Monthly Payment Plan is an interest-free alternative to paying your college expenses. http://www.studentaccounts.appstate.edu/payment-plan You may break up your college expenses into either four or five equal monthly payments for one term or nine or ten equal monthly payments for both terms (fall and spring). Not available for summer sessions
