2. About the author
Arthur Conan Doyle was born on 22 May 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Arthur's education started in 1868 at the Jesuit preparatory school Hodder in the Ribble Valley of Lancashire, England. He then attended Stony Hurst College, graduating in He became a doctor but During his years of studies and afterwards he wrote numerous articles and stories for publications. He became a writer as part time he enjoyed writeing. In August of 1885 he married Louise Hawkins with whom he would have two children: daughter Mary Louise and son Alleyne Kingsley. In 1900 Conan Doyle served as a doctor at the Longman Hospital during the South African War. He continued to write novels until he death Sir Arthur Conan Doyle died at his home "Windlesham" in Crowborough, Sussex, on 7 July 1930.

3. Curse of Baskerville
The curse that is believed, chases the Baskervilles for centuries, in revenge for the misdeeds of Sir Hugo Baskerville, who lived in an earlier time. According to the legend, Hugo Baskerville, an evil man with a sadistic streak, became infatuated with a yeoman's daughter, kidnapped her and imprisoned her in his bedchamber. She managed to escape while he was talking with his friends. A drunken and furious Hugo cried that he would give his body and soul to the Powers of Evil if he could only overtake her. He rode after her onto the moor, his hunting hounds upon her scent and his friends in pursuit. Sometime later his friends came upon the bodies of Hugo and the girl. She had died from fear and fatigue, while a giant spectral hound stood over Sir Hugo's body. With his friends watching, the hound plucked out Hugo's throat and disappeared into the night.

4. Plot overview
In the story, the old and noble Baskerville family is threatened by a curse: "A great, black beast, shaped like a hound, yet larger than any hound that ever mortal eye has rested upon" terrorizes and kills any family member who comes to live at the Baskerville estate. As the story opens, the hound seems to have claimed his latest victim, Sir Charles Baskerville. Sir Charles's nephew, Henry, the new heir to the estate, is poised to take up residence the next day. A friend of the family, Dr. Mortimer, comes to consult the famous Sherlock Holmes in his rooms at 221b Baker Street, though he confesses he doesn't know if the case is more suitable "for a detective or a priest. Sherlock and his apprentice Watson work on the case to find out the mystery of the hound of Baskerville.

5. Conflict
The whole story is based on one major conflict, The curse of the Baskervilles. Sherlock Holmes and Watson must find out the mystery to this curse to end deaths that is presumed to be caused by the Hound. There are other conflicts in the story but telling them would ruin the story for other readers.

6. Sherlock Holmes
The novel's protagonist. Holmes is the famed 221b Baker Street detective with a keen eye, hawked nose, and the trademark hat and pipe. Holmes is observant and has a personified intuition, and though he takes a bit of a back seat to Watson in this story, we always feel his presence. It takes his legendary powers to decipher the mystifying threads of the case.

7. Dr. Watson
The novel's other protagonist and narrator. Dr. Watson is the stout sidekick to Holmes and longtime chronicler of the detective's adventures. In Hound, Watson tries his hand at Holmes' game, expressing his eagerness to please and impress the master by solving such a baffling case. As sidekick and apprentice to Holmes, Watson acts as a foil for Holmes' genius and as a stand-in for us, the awestruck audience.

8. Point of view
The story is told by Dr. Watson he is the narrator and shows his feelings and what he does in the story. He also tells about his surroundings and the characters in his point of view.

9. Positive opinions
I like this book because it keeps you on your toes. Its full of suspense mystery that keeps you guessing. There are very many cliff hangers that make you want to read on. You have no idea what is in store for the end, it will catch you off guard.

10. Negative opinions
I dislike the time it takes to get suspenseful and reader attractive. After the first chapter, things begin to speed up and get to the mystery solving. From there on out the book is great.

11. Recommendations
I recommend this book to readers who like to play out the book carefully and with detail in their mind. Also readers that like the adventure of a good mystery. This book is great to for keeping you guessing the whole time and getting a awestruck ending.
