Doubt or Trust? A climber, desperate to reach the top of a high mountain, began his climb after years of preparation. Since he wanted the glory to himself, he decided to climb it alone without any partners.
3
During the climb it was getting later, and he had not prepared himself for camping overnight. So, he decided to continue... and finally it was really dark.
4
Nights were really dense at that point of the mountain, and one could see nothing. It was pitch black, with zero visibility; the moon and the stars were hidden by the clouds.
5
When climbing a narrow path, just feets from the top, he slipped and plunged into the air, falling at a dizzying speed. The climber could only see dark spots fast passing by and he felt a terrible feeling of being sucked by gravity. He kept falling... And in its harrowing moments, some happy and others sad episodes of his life, passed through his mind.
6
Overtaken by despair, in this moment of silence and solitude, suspended in air, there was nothing he could do and he shouted with all his might: MY GOD, HELP ME! He began to think about the proximity of the inevitable death... He suddenly felt a very strong jolt caused by the stretching of the rope from which he was tied and which was hold in the pins he craved into the mountain.
7
Suddenly a deep voice from heaven replied: WHAT DO YOU WANT ME DO YOU? Save me my GOD!
8
-Do you really believe that I CAN SAVE YOU? -Surely Lord!
9
-THEN CUT THE ROPE IN WHICH YOU ARE TIED UP... -There was a moment of silence, then the man clung even more tightly to the rope …
10
The rescue team found the climber, the following day, dead, frozen by the cold. His hands were gripped tightly to the rope... ONLY TWO FEET OF THE GROUND...
11
And you? Would you cut the rope? Sometimes we need to take decisions that test our faith in God. Are we so attached to our "rope" to the point of not having the courage to let go of them?
12
We should daily exercise our trust in God, always reminding us that "The Lord our God hold us in His hands and says:" Fear not, I'll help you ” Isa. 41:13
