Des exemples : Où vas-tu ? (Where are you going?) -Je vais à l’école avec mon copain. (I’m going to school with my friend.)

Vous allez au café? (Are you guys going to the café?) -Non, nous n’allons pas au café. Nous allons au cinéma. (No, we’re not going to the café. We’re going to the movies.)

ALLER is also use to talk about how people are: Comment ça va? (How are you doing?/How’s it going?) - Ça va bien, merci. (It’s going well, thanks.) Comment vont tes parents? (How are your parents doing?) -Ils vont bien. (They’re doing well.)

Le Pronom Y (The Pronoun Y) Y is a pronoun that means “there”. It is often used with ALLER. Notice how it is used and where it is placed with relation to the verb. À quelle heure vas-tu au restaurant? (What time are you going to the restaurant?) -J’y vais vers huit heures. (I’m going there around eight o’clock.) Pierre y va aussi? (Pierre is going there, too?) -Oui, nous y allons ensemble. (Yes, we’re going there together.)
