God’s Story Many try to make Bible a human history deals with our personal lives but the Bible is far more about God than it is about people. The books of the Bible are not many stories but one story that reveal who God is, His glory to His people. Glory is an “intrinsic worth, substance, brilliance and beauty.”

God’s Worship The ultimate value of salvation is not to be seen in what they were saved from, it is what they are saved for that really matter. People are saved to serve God in worship. (Ps 96:2-4) Our worship is genuine relational interaction with God. Our worship glorifies God by recognizing His glory and by honoring Him with the offerings of the lesser, but worthy glories of the nations. Our worship demands our gifts to God; and then, the gifts bring the givers to God. Worship not only delights and reveals God, it fulfills God’s love for people by bringing them to a place of their highest honor before Him.

A. The Great Name (People)
God uses His people to make His name known to all nations! Abraham was sent to the land of Canaanites but he did not do everything great as missionary to the tribes in the land but he made God’s name known in worship. (Genesis 12:6-8) Abraham was blessed to be a blessing with further purpose in order that the nations would bless God Himself with their grateful worship. (Genesis 12:1-3) Abraham was given a promise that all nations will be blessed; and His great name will be known to them by his offspring when he worshipped God with the sacrifice of his own son Isaac at the Mountain Moriah. (Genesis 22:11-18)

B. The Great Display (Events)
God uses His stories to make His glory known to His people! The exodus: the pivotal moment when God revealed Himself globally by name, distinguishing and honoring His name above any other god. The conquer: God’s way of establishing the purity of worship to Himself. The temple: God’s way of signaling that people from every nation could encounter and worship Him personally.

C. The Great Delay (Time)
God uses His time to make His glory known to His people! Just when it looked as if Israel was going to make God’s name widely known among the nations, Solomon led the way in idolatry. Idolatry profaned, or made common and then Israel began centuries of up and down struggles with idolatry. God finally removed the people from the land, sending them among the nations into a time of captivity known as the Exile.

D. The Ultimate Glory of God, Jesus the Christ.
God sent His Son to reveal His ultimate glory to all people, tribes, and nations. Jesus is the ultimate glory of God and He fulfilled God’s purpose to reveal His glory to the world in order to receive glory from the nations. Christ is the exact representation of the Father (Hebrews 1:3; Galatians 1:15)
