Intensity of God’s Sorrow God’s heart hurts when we choose to walk in sin, Gen. 6:6-7 – Grieved (6:6): To hurt, to have pain, Jer. 9:1 – Sorry (6:7): Regret, a change of mind 6

Goodness and Severity of God Goodness: His sorrow over our sins prompts His mercy, Mark 3:5 – Redemption in Christ God takes no pleasure in the death of sinners! Ezek. 18:32; Eph. 2:4-5 Grand expression of love, Rom. 5:8 7

The Sorrow of God God is grieved when… – We ignore Him – We rebel against Him – We choose other things – We harden ourselves In love, He offers us mercy in His Son He disciplines us to help turn sorrow into joy 9

The Sorrow of God Are you bringing God sorrow or joy? Lam. 3:31-33, 37-42 God shows the path of life to fullness of joy, Psa. 16:11; Rev. 21:4 – “Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matt. 25:21) 10
