1. Letting go of baggage 2  What is my purpose in life?  Who am I within the purpose?  What/who makes me feel secure?  Do I feel loved and special?  Who makes me feel that way?

2. Deuteronomy 11 v8-15 1.In Egypt. The Israelites’ Significance/Identity. Known as the descendants of Jacob (Israel) because of this they were slaves to the Egyptians and used for their purpose. The Israelites’ Security. Came from their Egyptian rulers who trusted various gods to provide rich soil and water for their crops. The Israelites’ Self-worth. Came from other people especially their rulers and their rulers’ purpose.

3. 2. After 40 years in the desert. The Israelites’ Significance/Identity. They knew with God’s help they were to take over the land. They were recognised as God’s people, the residents of the land were frightened of them. Joshua 9 v24-5

4. The Israelites’ Security. They had been fed by God in the desert and had learned to depend on Him. Deut. 2v7

5. The Israelites Self-worth. They knew they were chosen by God. They had experienced His goodness and might for themselves as individuals. This made them feel valuable individually and as a group, Ps 118v4.

6. As Christians Our Significance/Identity We are a people and individuals with a purpose 1Peter 2v9. Our Security. On earth is in God’s provision Matt 6v25. In heaven. Eph 2v6 Our Self-worth. We are chosen by God Eph 1v4, Eph 2v10

7. Challenge. Where do I stand in God for my significance, security and self worth? What attitudes are getting in the way in order for me to change? What can I leave at the foot of the cross in order for God by His Spirit to start the change today?
