Grass Fed, Dry Aged Beef Crosby, Texas Ray Law

What is Grass Fed or Pasture Fed Beef? Put simply, American grass fed beef is exactly that--cattle that are finished on grass and pasture raised. Most cattle in the United States are not finished on grass, but are instead fed grain.

We have Grass in our Pastures. We are Grass Farmers, Not Ranchers.

Five Reasons Why You Should Switch to Grass Fed Beef 1. Grass Fed Beef is healthier for you and your family. If you are already worried about the effects of meat on you or your family's health, you can stop worrying! Pasture raised beef is lower in total fat than regular beef and is richer in Omega 3 fatty acids and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid).

Five Reasons Why You Should Switch to Grass Fed Beef 2. There is a difference in taste between grain and pasture raised beef. You'll probably be able to taste a difference with the first bite of a Texas grass fed beef hamburger. What you can taste is clean meat. You aren't consuming a lot of antibiotics and pink slime, dyes, seasonings, or saline.

Five Reasons Why You Should Switch to Grass Fed Beef 3. Switching to grass fed beef can help to keep our environment clean. All cattle eat a lot, and all cattle make a lot of waste. Did you know there are over 90 million head of cattle in the United States? Many of these live in huge feed lots, and the waste has no where to go but down. It seeps into the groundwater, finds its way into the river, and pollutes the water. In fact, animal waste has already polluted many of our waterways. In addition, the corn and grains that is used to feed grain fed beef, has been sprayed with pesticides that not only get into the animal, but harm our environment.

Our land management encourages wild life, such as beavers

How the Beavers get in and out…

Five Reasons Why You Should Switch to Grass Fed Beef 4. American grass fed beef is more humane to the cattle.  Our cattle are free to roam, eat grass and make babies.  They are treated for parasites and given minerals licks. That’s it. They are free to be happy cows and bulls the rest of their lives.

Five Reasons Why You Should Switch to Grass Fed Beef 5. Raising beef cattle on the pasture is safer meat.  They don’t eat things that are not meant for cattle to eat.  They do not stand in holding pens for months in their own filth.  They are butchered and inspected individually in a small, clean processing plant.  We never mix meat from different animals. Each animal is processed separately.

Cattle Need Shade All of our pastures provide grass, shade and water.

Why local is best.

Butchering: Aged Meat meat that is “hung” or dry aged for a minimum of 14 days, enhancing the flavor and tenderness of the meat. Feed lot cattle are “wet aged”. Usually killed, cut, boxed and shipped in a matter of hours.

There is more to a good steak then marbling. You can have lean, tender beef if it is from grass-fed cows and then dry aged.

Grass Fed Beef vendors are careful with the cattle and raise them with high, strict standards that are beyond and more reasonable than the organic set of rules for the best quality meat your money can buy.

Most only deal locally and refer to other beef producers in other cities instead of shipping. We strongly believe in the local, slow food movement. We belong to:

Funny how Texas has so many cows, but the beef from most grocery stores is shipped here from processing plants that were supplied by feed lots over 600 miles away.
