What are the risks of speaking up? What are the benefits? What are the best methods of speaking up against injustice? What injustices do you see at Avon High School that you could stand up against?

5 Further Introduction to Elie Wiesel Background Write down three talking points (questions, exclamations, golden lines, etc.) for next class.

6 After Viewing: In relation to the video, add to your journal.  Why is it important to speak up? Choose a golden line from Wiesel’s speech on page 162 that speaks to you. Explain why you chose it.

7 Socratic Seminar When is it acceptable to break a law?  What is the importance of speaking the truth in the face of adversity?  To what extent are we responsible for our fellow man?

Example 2: Predict how we will view this issue in 25 years. 2 or 3 of each type of question
