2 Have you: Ever wondered what life was like on the other side of the world? Gone without food for almost an entire day? Worked hard for money, then gave it all away to survive? Both loved and hated your siblings?

3 Meet Parvana She lives in Afghanistan

5 Parvana lives in this war torn country where:
Girls cannot go to school Women cannot work outside the home Women cannot leave their homes without a man Homes have no running water There are no TV’s, video games, or toys

6 Listen to the music of Afghanistan
Do you hear it???? I don’t (That wasn’t allowed either!)

7 Some new words that you will read:
Burqa: A long tent-like garment which covers the entire body and head of a woman.

8 Karachi: A cart on wheels, pushed by hand or pulled by donkey

9 Nan: Afghan flat bread that is long and round. (Yum!!)

12 The Taliban? Who are they?
Talib is an Arabic word meaning "one who is seeking" but the word has evolved to mean "someone who is seeking religious knowledge." But, these men have taken this to an extreme, and rule with force and power.
