1 Teacher Candidate Assessment Requirements and Information

2 Program testing requirements  Passing scores on Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Tests, CORE ACT, SAT, or GRE of mathematics, reading, and writing. ETS will no longer offer the Praxis I (PPST) after August 31, 2014.  Passing PPST scores in Wisconsin are: Mathematics 173, Reading 175, and Writing 174.   Replacement will be CORE as of Sept. 1, 2014  Reading (5712) score of 156  Writing (5722) score of 162  Math (5732) score of 150   Effective Sept. 1, 2013, ACT, SAT and GRE scores can be used instead of the PPST  ACT-composite 23; minimum of 20 on each (Reading, Writing and Math)  SAT-composite 1070; minimum of 450 on each (Verbal and Math)  GRE-composite 298; minimum of 150 on Verbal and 145 on Math  All have a 5 year maximum admission to program application timeframe  Students who have not met the minimum G.P.A. requirement or passed all three sections of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (attempted at least twice) for admission could seek to be admitted through a waiver/exceptions policy.

3 Professional Semester policies  All Initial Educator Certification Students planning to student teach must receive a passing score on their Praxis II content, ACTFL and FORT exam(s) prior to obtaining a student teaching placement.  For a FALL semester placement, the last test date is the preceding January.  For a SPRING semester placement, the last test date is the preceding August.  A student teacher/intern must take a test for every area of certification with the exception of MCEA. MCEA students do not need to test in their minor if the minor is math, language arts, social studies or science

4 Deadlines for Meeting testing criteria  For placements in the fall semester, criteria for which the student is responsible (GPA, TB test, Praxis II Content Test[s], ACTFL, FORT and Psyc 261) must be met by March 1 of the preceding semester.  For placements in the spring semester, these criteria must be met by October 1 of the preceding semester.  For placements in the summer session, these criteria must be met by February 1 of the preceding semester.  Failure to meet criteria on time may result in a delay of the professional semester.

5 More Policy  A student teacher/intern must take a test for every area of certification with the exception of MCEA. MCEA students do not need to test in their minor if the minor is math, language arts, social studies or science. You can only take one morning and one afternoon test per day.  To register for the Praxis and ACTFL exam(s) call 1-800-772-9476 or visit the website at www.ets.org/praxis or http://www.ets.org/praxis/wi/requirements/. FORT- http://www.wi.nesinc.com/ www.ets.org/praxis http://www.ets.org/praxis/wi/requirements/  The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in accordance with PI 34, Wisconsin Administrative Code, requires that all students completing a Wisconsin professional education (licensure) program and out-of state applicants who completed their programs after August 31, 2004 take the specific Praxis II: Subject Assessments listed below that correspond to the license(s) they will be issued. Test code numbers and qualifying scores do change as updates are mandated by DPI. If you passed a Praxis II test during the qualifying dates for that particular test code, it will always be a valid passing score.  CDT - computer delivered test PDT - paper delivered test (being phased out)
