1. Congratulations! You have just installed the Presentation Game Add-In.
Press F5 now to view this Quick Start Tutorial and see how easy it is to use the Presentation Game to add interactivity to your presentations. This is one of the most flexible presentations tools available.

2. Click through this presentation at your own pace.
First you’ll open the Presentation Game by clicking on the Training Presentation Tools tab as picture above.
It’s always there when you open PowerPoint!

3. The Presentation Game uses 2 buttons on your PowerPoint menu.
Game Setup opens the setup in edit mode.
Add Game Buttons will add small black buttons (shown in the upper left corner) to each of your presentation slides to allow you to access the game menu in slideshow mode.
You’ll want to add these buttons once you presentation is complete, so you can access the Game Menu from all slides.
We’ll cover the Game Menu in detail after reviewing how to setup your game.

4. Let’s press Game Setup.
Player or Team names can be are typed in here. It holds up to 36 names.
You can clear all names or use default names by pressing these buttons.

5. Here you can select the number of players or teams that will appear on the main Game Menu when you click on the small black button (in slide show mode) to launch the Game Menu.

6. One of the game options is to display random text or actions
One of the game options is to display random text or actions. These are entered here. When designing your game rules use your imagination to create actions that players or teams might need to perform . One of these five items will randomly appear when the Action button on the Game Menu is clicked. These can be learning challenges or simply fun actions.

7. This button clears all the scores from the Menu.
Here you can build and add a custom question slide to your presentation. Below are 3 buttons to create an open-ended, true/false or multiple choice questions. The multiple choice question can have up to 4 correct answers. You can also add to your question slide a 30 or 60 second timer and have it count down “on click” or automatically when the slide first appears.
This button clears all the scores from the Menu.

8. This area lets you optional create different setup and load them
This area lets you optional create different setup and load them. By default a setup is saved when the setup or menu pop-ups are closed. You can add a description of your setup.

9. Here you can choose another setup to build or load a previously named setup. Up to 10 different setups can be stored. This will save ALL your set up selections but is especially handy if you’ve enter a lot of player names for class members playing multiple games.

10. The Menu has a random number generator and this where you tell it the max number to use. It’s set for 10 now but can choose from 10,000 numbers randomly. So you can use it to select raffle tickets, bingo numbers or any thing you can think of!
The Point Multiplier controls how many points are added or subtracted to a player or team’s score each time the +/- buttons on the Game Menu is pressed.

11. These buttons apply to the J Board
These buttons apply to the J Board. Here you have a Jeopardy style game board which can also be used as your presentations Table of Contents (both pictured above). Imagine you can jump to any slide in your presentation at any time.
The Reset J Board buttons resets the buttons that were hidden during game play. The Change J Board Colors buttons opens this dialog box (right) and allows you to choose the J Board’s background, header and button colors by just clicking on a color. Now let’s click on the J Board Setup button and have a look at it.

12. Here you will type in the game and category titles for the J Board.
If your using the board as a game, these will be the categories your players/teams will select questions from . If used as a Table of Contents here is where you’ll place your presentation’s major topics .

13. Here you will enter the value or slide names for up to 20 questions or hyperlinks.
As a default we’ve provided standard Jeopardy point values, but keep in mind you can change these values and even replace them with names of particular slides you may want to jump to when presenting.
Below the category titles you’ll use the sliders to point to the question or slide number that you want that button to go to when clicked. Keep in mind if you’ve added new slides after completing this setup (effectively changing slide #s) you’ll need to return here to reset any slide numbers that have changed.

14. Reset Values buttons is a quick way to reset the default point values.
The Reset Buttons resets any game buttons (questions) used during a game.
Game Mode Checkbox: If checked buttons will be hidden after being pressed during a game. If unchecked then the button will not disappear after initially being pressed.
You can select from 1 to 4 columns of buttons to display. This allows you to show 5, 10, 15 or all 20 buttons.

15. Let’s press Add Game Buttons.
Clicking on the Add Game Buttons button reveals this pop-up with two simple choices:
Add Game Buttons to all of the slides in the current presentation. You can press this button multiple times if needed during development (Perhaps you’ve added additional slides) because it’s function is to place a small black button (shown above) on ALL slides within the presentation, and is your way of accessing the Game Menu during your presentation.
The Delete Game Buttons button deletes all buttons from your presentation.

Here are the buttons added. It is small, color neutral and will display the Game Menu when pressed on any slide in SLIDESHOW or presentation mode.
Note: These buttons will only work on computers with the Presentation Game Add-In installed.

19. These first 4 buttons are random generators.
The Players button will randomly display a player or team name. To select another name just click on the name again (in this case Player 6 is shown).
The Numbers button will display a random number between 1 and ANY number set in the Game Setup.
The Action button will display one of the random actions entered on the Game Setup.
Point Grid displays 9 letters. Clicking on a letter displays a random value based on the points multiplier on the Game Setup. A great way to determine what the value of a question is worth if not using the J Board.

20. The J board can be used as a game board with questions attached or as a table of contents with slides attached. Click the J Board button to access it.
The Timer can be used to time any event. It has Start, Pause and Stop buttons. The slider can set the timer from 1 minute to 240 minutes (4 Hours).

21. Rules/Notes can be used to display game rules, notes that you want to make during a presentation or used to record audience follow up questions.
The last 3 gray buttons will move you backwards, return to last slide viewed or forward during a presentation. You’ll need to press the Last button to return to your place in the presentation when you’ve just jumped to a game question. These are optional and you can click directly on a slide to go forward. You can Close the Menu at any time and open it by pressing the small black button in the upper left corner of any slide while in SLIDESHOW mode.

22. Question slides created by the Presentation Game.
These slides use custom animation to work the optional timer and reveal the correct answers.
The Answer button will reveal the correct answers in SLIDESHOW mode. To setup the correct answers on the true/false and multiple choice questions you simply move the arrows up and down to appear next to the correct answers only.
Depending upon your Slide Master and configuration you might have to adjust the textboxes and fonts to appear correctly. To add additional answer choices (E,F,G etc.) on Multiple Choice Questions, just hit enter after the last choice.
When adding questions embedded at different locations within your presentation, just click on (select) a slide thumbnail location (on the right side of your screen) while in edit mode. Then go back to the Game Set to create the question slide format. The Presentation Game will insert the question type you’ve selected directly below that slide location. You’ll be able to add questions throughout your presentation w/o needing to close the Game Setup.
