5 9.1 Types of Reports in Medisoft
9-5 Reports are an important tool in managing a medical office Information contained in reports is key to the administrative and financial areas of a practice Common types of reports include: Standard reports Custom reports Medisoft Reports Learning Outcome: 9.1 List the three types of reports available in Medisoft. Pages: Standard reports include many of the basic reports used by a medical office, such as day sheets, practice analysis reports, and patient ledgers. Medisoft Reports, new in Version 16 of the software, include over a hundred reports not included in the Standard reports. Custom reports are created and modified using the Medisoft Report Designer program.

Pages: The exact contents of the Search box vary from report to report, the way selections are made does not change. Some selection boxes use a drop-down list for entering data; others use a button with three dots. Beneath each selection box or set of boxes in the Search box, there is an option labeled Show all values of the field. If you are printing a report and want all values for the field included make sure the box is checked.

8 9.3 Day Sheets 9-8 A day sheet is a report that provides information on practice activities for a twenty-four-hour period These reports can be organized by: Patient Procedure Payment Learning Outcome: 9.3 Distinguish between patient, procedure, and payment day sheets. 12 9.4 Analysis Reports 9-12 Medisoft provides several analysis reports, including: Billing/Payment Status Report Practice Analysis Report Medisoft's practice analysis report analyzes the revenue of a practice for a specified period of time, usually a month or a year Created from the Analysis Reports list of the Reports menu Learning Outcome: 9.4 Demonstrate how to create a practice analysis report. Pages: Not all reports can be created in student exercises because data have not been sent to insurance carriers and patients. The billing/payment status report lists the status of all transactions that have responsible insurance carriers, showing who has paid and who has not been billed.

9-13 Practice Analysis Report Exercise 9-2 page 316 Learning Outcome: 9.4 Demonstrate how to create a practice analysis report. Pages: The report can be used to generate medical practice financial statements. It can also be used for profit analysis. The summary at the end of the report breaks down the information into total charges, total payments and copayments, and total adjustments.

Pages: A standard report. The information it provides is especially useful when there is a question about a patient’s account.

16 9.6 Standard Patient Lists
9-16 Medisoft offers reports for identifying patients by diagnosis or insurance carrier, including: Patient by Diagnosis report Patient by Insurance Carrier report Accessed via the Standard Patient Lists submenu on the Reports menu Exercise 9-4 page 322 Learning Outcome: 9.6 Demonstrate how to create a standard patient list report. Pages: The Patient by Diagnosis report lists diagnosis code, chart number, patient name, age, attending provider, facility, and date of last visit. The Patient by Insurance Carrier report lists patients sorted by provider or facility, and then by their insurance carrier.

The Help menu contains entries for viewing help contents, navigating to Medisoft’s website, viewing Medisoft Reports file location and path, and displaying the version of Medisoft Reports you are using.

19 9.8 Aging Reports 9-19 An aging report lists the amount of money owed to the practice, organized by the amount of time the money has been owed Used to determine which accounts require follow-up to collect past due balances Created for patients and insurance carriers A patient aging report lists a patient's balance by age, date and amount of the last payment, and telephone number Learning Outcome: 9.8 Explain how aging reports are used in a medical practice.
