2. Direct Objects (DO)—what are they? Direct objects receive the action of the verb: I’m watching the movie. (What am I watching? The movie=the direct object.) He’s closing the window. (What’s he closing? The window=the DO) We’re writing letters. (What’re we writing? letters=the DO) You’re giving flowers. (You’re giving what? Flowers=the DO)

5. In our previous examples… I’m watching the movie. Je regarde le film. Le film=masculine singular=le. Je le regarde. He’s closing the window. Il ferme la fenêtre. La fenêtre=fem. sing.=la. Je la ferme. We’re writing letters. Nous écrivons les lettres. Les lettres=fem.pl.=les. Nous les écrivons. You’re giving flowers. Vous donnez les fleurs. Les fleurs=fem.pl.=les. Vous les donnez.
