Barbadian Currency of Yesteryear The Central Bank of Barbados was founded in 1972 In previous years, Barbados’ currency was issued by various organizations/entities Individual Commercial Banks The Government of Barbados British Caribbean Currency Board Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority

Barbadian Currency of Yesteryear Between 1950 and 1973, Barbados shared a common currency with other Caribbean states. Until 1975, our currency was tied to the Pound Sterling. The Barbados dollar is now tied to the United States Dollar. The rate of exchange is USD1.00 = Barbados $2.00
