18 Choose the correct coil !
3-plane Axial Sagittal Coronal Oblique Choose the correct coil ! Select 2D, unless 3D-SPGR MRC2 ONLY ! Choose gradient mode (Whole or Zoom) Always Zoom for EPI Choose pulse sequence Select imaging options

20 Pulse sequences Localizer 3D SPGR GE-EPI (fMRI) DW-EPI

21 (not necessary for first series)
Localizer Localizer Select FOV of cm Slice thickness e.g. 5 mm 0.0 1 Press Prepare to Scan (not necessary for first series) Press Save Series Select iso-center 1 slice per axis Press Scan

22 3D-SPGR q3dgrass2

23 First prep for scan if manual sync with paradigm
GE-EPI First prep for scan if manual sync with paradigm

24 Image allocation 1024 images / scan
# slices x # volumes < 1024 That’s why we use Brainwave (20,000 images) For diffusion tensor imaging there is also need for > 1024 images E.g. 50 slices x 55 diffusion directions  3,000 images We’ve now have a solution to run DTI via Brainwave (not product)

25 # diffusion directions #RR = #slices/2 or maybe “/3”
DW-EPI > 1024 images # diffusion directions Choose #RR = #slices/2 or maybe “/3” (Depending on heart rate)

29 Symptoms & Solutions MR system hangs Step1 - Hope that TPS reset works
Takes about 2 minutes You’ll need to make a “New Patient” afterwards. Type “mr” instead of patient ID to pick up the last exam. No new landmark is required. New Localizer is however necessary.

30 Symptoms & Solutions MR system hangs Step 2 - Reboot
Open a terminal window andtype “reboot” Step 3 – Hardware shutdown Instead of “reboot”, type “poweroff” When system is down, go in to the system cabinet in computer room and switch off and on OFF: 12, 11, 10…1 ON: 1,2…12 If you forget to “poweroff” before doing this, I’ll personally kill you with a spoon
