Yes, both SER and ESTAR mean “to be” (am, is, and are) But they are not interchangeable!!!! So, how do we know when to use each one???

someone is feeling 1. To describe how someone is feeling (temporary characteristics) such as tired, sick, sad, happy, etc. location 2.To describe location such as beside, to the left of, in, etc.

1. window= la ventana 2. door = la puerta 3. on top of = encima de 4. the outskirts = las afueras 5. the bedroom = la habitación 6. nobody = nadie 7. big = grande 8. next to = al lado de 9. tampoco = neither, not either 10. debajo de = underneath
