2 Who are the SMF? Supports high achieving students from lower income backgrounds Provides students with a mentor, internship, university application advice and skills sessions Tailored to 6 career sectors

3 What are the Residential Internship Programmes? Completely free of charge No caps on schools, colleges or local authorities 1-2 week summer internship in top firms in London Support students from Year 12 until employment Provides a range of support to help students reach top universities and competitive professions

10 Why do we do it? To level the playing field Give students realistic chances Prepare students for the future

11 Does it work? Over the past 7 years, 53% of SMF students started their university career at a Russell Group university Over 95% of SMF students stated that they wouldn’t have been able to get an internship at the organisation they were placed at without SMF help

14 Who can apply? We consider exceptions for Children in Care or for students with serious extenuating circumstances that have disrupted their education If your school has had 20% or more students eligible for FSM at any point in the last 3 years, students do not need to be personally eligible for FSM FSM data and GCSE pass rates are taken from DfE or RaiseOnline in 2013 There are further subject requirements for some career sectors. 15 How can students apply? Apply online: www.socialmobility.org.uk Students must confirm their results and complete assessment questions Students must complete an eligibility and parental consent form Deadline: 9am, Monday 22 nd December 2014

16 What do teachers have to do? Promote the programme to eligible students Provide an online reference Sign and stamp the eligibility form to confirm student eligibility
