-”GO” verbs There are some verbs that are irregular in the YO form, with a stem change adding a “g” to the stem [like TENER – yo tengo] These verbs have the same type of stem change: HACER – to make / to do PONER – to put / to place SALIR – to leave TRAER – to bring

These verbs have a stem change only in the YO form:
HACER PONER hago hacemos pongo ponemos haces hacéis pones poneis hace hacen pone ponen SALIR TRAER salgo salimos **traigo traemos sales salís traes traéis sale salen trae traen **Note that the YO form of TRAER adds an ‘i’ along with the ‘g’ to the stem!

HACER and PONER are used in idiomatic expressions [does not translate directly from one language to another] : hacer un viaje to make [to take] a trip hacer la maleta to pack the suitcase poner la mesa to set the table

There is one other common verb similar to these. The verb VENIR is conjugated like TENER with a ‘g’ added to the YO form and an e>ie stem change in the “shoe” VENIR – to come vengo venimos vienes venís viene vienen
