2. What is Child Abuse?
It can be defined as causing or permitting (passive abuse) any harmful or offensive contact to a person under the age of 18's body; and/or Any communication or transaction which humiliates, shames, or frightens the person.

3. Facts about Child Abuse NY State DURING 2006
About 76,000 children were abused or neglected (approximately 16.9 of every 1,000 children).
62 Children are known to have died as a result of child abuse and neglect.
1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18
1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18
