5 Who are these Violent Young People? Victim Offender OR

6 Offender Young woman aged 15 Common assault x 2 and theft ABH X 3, Common assault Assaulting a police officer Section 4a (public Order) Tagged

7 Victim Lived with Domestic abuse for the first 12 years of her life Lived in refuge accommodation twice in the first five years of her life Inadequate parenting resulting in no boundaries and poor school attendance Lives with sister Consumes excessive amounts of alcohol Low self esteem, some evidence of self harm

8 The Challenge We have a duty to provide interventions which enable young people to address issues arising out of their experiences of risk and abuse. We also have a duty to provide interventions designed to assist young people to manage and reduce the likelihood and/or continuation of risk and abuse.

9 The LINX Programme The theme underpinning the programme is the link between young people’s experiences, how they feel as a result of this and the subsequent impact on their offending behaviour

16 Summary of workshop activity. Using experiential exercises allows us all to ‘learn’ in a different way. For many young people this approach feels like ‘fun’ not learning.
