RICE The Chinese started planting rice at least 3,000 to 4,000 to years ago. Rice is grown in flooded field called paddy fields. Rice cakes were made during the Spring Festival and it was believed that people who ate them would achieve a good harvest!

POPULAR CHINESE FOODS Rice Stir fry is a variety of veggies and Lo Mein Lo Mein(Noodles) Turtle Soup is popular. It is made of turtles, tomato soup, rice, greens, and mustard. Chinese Pineapple Tart is a very popular food during the Chinese New Year. It has the color of the dragon, and the dragon means good luck.

TEA Tea is grown in southern China. Chinese people drink a great deal of tea, without milk.

CHINESE MARKETS Most Chinese people go shopping every day for food to make sure it is fresh. Many Chinese people go to street markets to buy their food. Farmers from the country will bring their vegetables and meat to cities to be sold.
