In 1990 the UN adopted the International Day of Elderly People. On the first of October there are different festivals, conferences and conventions on the rights of older people and their role in the society.

4. The Day of Elderly People was first celebrated in Europe, then in America, and in the late 1990s it was celebrated all over the world.

Mothers Day is a very popular holiday in Russia. Children often congratulate their mothers with holiday, give flowers. It is a very young holiday.This day is on different dates in different countries. Mothers Day is celebrated in Russia on the last Sunday of November.

8. In many European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan and China, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. On this day mothers are usually given flowers, chocolates, breakfast in bed or going to the restaurant.
